NeuroCognitive Unit (NCL)

The NeuroCognition Laboratory (NCL) is a state of the art facility for research techniques in experimental psychology and neurocognition.  gathering space for faculty and students with related interests. The lab has been conceived as a central facility that comprises a 64 channel high quality research-grade Electroencephalogram (EEG) acquisition system, physiological measures, and a high-frequency Eye Tracking system that enables faculty and scholars at CHRIST to carry out research projects. There is also a meeting space with LCD for hosting a small group class, workshop, or meeting for about 10-12 people. NCL became operational in February 2019 and is situated on the third floor, Block II of CHRIST (Deemed to be University).

Methods at NCL

1. Electroencephalogram- We use Magstim EGI Geodesic EEG System with NA400 EEG amplifier, having 64 channels. We use E-Prime 2.0 on the task-delivery system for running purely behavioural and Event-Related Potential studies. EEG acquisition and analysis is performed by Net Station 5. We also perform additional physiological recordings, such as ECG, EMG and Pulse Oxymeter, using Physio 16.

2. Eye Tracking- We use SR Research's EyeLink 1000 Plus system for eye-tracking. It's a high frequency sampling system, which can go up to 2000 Hz, and can be applied in research involving visual attention, BCI, marketing and for usability and clinical studies. The system supports Experiment Builder, which is a software for making experiments involving eye-tracking. For the purpose of viewing and analyzing eye-tracking data, we use Data Viewer. The system also enables heads-free recording for studies that require greater flexibility during recording.
