Summary Report- Eye Track 2025
3-Day Certificate Workshop on Eye Tracking Methodology
Overview
The three-day certificate workshop on Eye Tracking Methodology (EYE TRACK 2025) was held between 6th and 8th February, 2025 at CHRIST (Deemed to be) University, Central Campus, Bangalore. The workshop was organized by NeuroCognition Laboratory and there were 20 participants made up of post graduate students, PhD scholars and professionals from various disciplines. The workshop provided hands-on experience with state of the art eye trackers by Tobii and SR research, and participants also learnt how to design and conduct experimental research using Eye Tracking Methodology. The summary of the workshop sessions have been provided below.
The workshop was supported by volunteers from the 'Bridging the Future' program at CHRIST, which is a collaborative program between the Centre for Social Action at CHRIST and BOSCH India. The program focuses on empowering youths from underprivileged and economically disadvantaged backgrounds to gain training on various areas to improve their employability. The workshop also aligned with the Goal 12 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and efforts were made to reduce plastic waste during the event.

Day 3 (8th February- Saturday)
Session 1- Mathematical Perspective on Scanpath [Lecture] (9:00-9:45AM)
Session 2- Experiment Builder Demonstration (9:45AM-10:30AM)
Summary
In this session, Mr Adhiraj gave a demonstration of experiment builder software. The participants also designed a template of their experiment on their laptops using the trial version of the experiment builder. This was a hands-on session where participants benefitted from designing their own experiments while the demonstration of the software continued. Along with Mr. Adhiraj, the mentors and researchers trained in the technique helped participants clarify their doubts.
Session 3- Introduction to DataViewer [Lecture & Demonstration] (10:45AM-12:30PM)
Summary
In this session, Mr Adhiraj talked about different types of data recorded from different paradigms in eye-tracking research. He explained the different kinds of eye movement metrics such as fixations, saccades, blinks, and smooth pursuit. He also explained in sufficient detail how pupillometry studies are conducted and the steps required to ensure credible pupil size data.
Additionally, he talked about how an experimenter plans for data extraction, and why efficient experiment design is important for credible data extraction. Mr Adhiraj also gave a demonstration of the DataViewer interface used for data visualization and extraction using a pre-recorded video. He explained each step involved in data extraction while referring to Antisaccade task data.
Session 4- Students’ Experience Sharing (1:30PM-2:30PM)
Session 5- Valedictory ceremony (2:30PM- 3:30PM)
Summary
This was the closing session of the workshop where workshop was summarised and the certificates were to be distributed. Dr Sudhesh N.T.,Head, School of Psychological Sciences attended the valedictory session. He expressed his support and encouragement to the organising team mebers, volunteers and to the partivipants of the workshop.
